HomeMocha Girls on a MissionMocha Girl of the Week: Precious Coleman Terri Lomax June 30, 2014 Why Precious Coleman is a Mocha Girl on a Mission… I am a Mocha Girl on a Mission because after being faced with multiple forms of adversity, I always knew that success solely depended on my innate ability to “take charge” even when things seemed financially impossible. There’s a generation of young women who need examples of strength right within their locality. I grind for them! Precious’ biggest obstacles… Being raised by a single mother who was an employee of the Department of Education. My mother was one of 3500 teachers who lost their jobs due to the Bias testing practices of The NYS office of teaching and NYC DOE. As a means to combat the test and unfair licensing practices the teachers formed a Group Called Progressive Action Caucus. Together they filed a Lawsuit to sue the City of NY and hold them accountable for their discriminatory exam. The case is still in court after 18 years of financial hardships, countless setbacks…. They finally won! Precious’ Greatest Accomplishment… Working as a Freelance Audience Assistant. Also working independently to bring ideas to life! Being a Member of SAG AFTRA as a TV and Film Actress/ Commercial Print Model. Keep in touch with Precious! Were you inspired by Precious? Share your feedback below!
