1. Name Your Alarm- I just started trying this a few months ago and I lie to you not, one day I woke up, looked at my alarm and bust out laughing. This is very unusual considering that 99.9% of the time I wake up irritated and grumpy. Want to know why I woke up laughing? I “named” my alarm “Wake that ass up.”Depending on the type of mood that you’d like to set “Good Morning Gorgeous” or “Hello Beautiful” might do as well.

2. Change Your Password- How many times do you log onto your Facebook, Twitter or email daily? Be honest, no judgement passed on the FB or Twitter addicts, I too am in the struggle! Now if you’re like me, your FB and Twitter accounts keep you logged in, but for your email accounts and other log-ins you enter your password each time. Right? So, try changing your password to a positive word or something that makes you smile. It’ll be nearly impossible to stay in a funk with a password like IMSEXYANDIKNOWIT. 🙂

3. Talk to Yourself- Yup, that’s right I said it! Talk to yourself! You know what “they” say, as long as you don’t answer you’re good. Positive affirmations work wonders… but the trick is, you may have to put your skepticism about it to the side. Some call it wishful thinking, others hocus pocus, but from experience, I’m a  living witness that affirmations really do work, if you want them to. During one of my darkest moments I was struggling with low self-esteem and I heard my pastor speak about affirmations and the power of words in church one day.

After the message I started writing out positive affirmations and reciting them in the mirror every morning before I left the house. So in theory I woke up, took a look in the mirror and lied to myself every morning before going to class. I say lied because I didn’t believe half of what I recited (at that moment in time) however in time I did.

Sample Affirmations:

“I am my own unique self – special, creative and confident.”

“I’m comfortable in my own skin.”

” I’m at peace.”

“I am rich financially and spirituality.”

What steps do you take to remain positive throughout the day? I’d love to incorporate a few new steps into my daily routine!
