I’m a Mocha Girl on a Mission…yah

To be a living testament of how hard work, determination and the help of GOD can help you achieve anything. After growing up with two drug abusing parents, losing a brother to violence and being faced with adversity, I pushed through the pain and hurt and at the age of 21 decided to make a better life for myself.

Obstacles I’ve Overcome…

From being emotionally, verbally and physically abused, having low-self esteem and being forced to parent 2 younger siblings at the age of 15, (after my mother was incarcerated) I defied the odds and graduated from High School, was the first in my family to graduate from college with both a Bachelor’s (at the age of 25) and a Master’s degree (at the age of 30!)

My Greatest Accomplishments…

-Yah is very proud to have graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with both her Bachelors and Masters Degree. She is the first in her family to obtain a degree. She has devoted her professional career to helping shape and mold young minds and hearts to be greater and to live greater. She does this by serving as a Higher Educational  Professional and an English Professor and has served in Student Services at various universities.
-Yah also serves as the Co-Pastor of Greater Life Ministries in Dover, Delaware alongside her husband who is the Founder and Senior Pastor. She is entrusted by God to lead the Women’s Ministry entitled Made Whole Ministries, which serves to assist women to live in complete wholeness and restoration.
-In May 2013 Yah hosted her first women’s conference which had over 200 attendees.
-Yah is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

-Yah is writing her first book entitled “Made Whole: A women’s journey from pain to purpose” and is excited to release it by the summer 2014.

-Of all the accomplishments she has to date, her greatest is that of being a Wife to her husband Kevin Hughes for the past 6 and a half years and mommy to Kevin Jr.  She also prides herself on being able to show her siblings and family that no matter what they’re faced with, they can still achieve greatness.
