Long Bio
TL LemonsWe’ve all heard the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Terri Lomax finds great joy in “making lemonade” for herself and helping others make lemonade out of the lemons in their lives. Her transparency and approachability are evident in her approach whether she is speaking to an auditorium of high school students, blogging about her journey to a healthy self-image or sharing her story of triumph in her book. Terri’s ability to maintain professionalism and still meet the youth where they are, gives her an edge that allows students to respect her and confide in her. Her interactive approach is not only motivational, but transformational.

Terri is a nationally recognized blogger, speaker and author dedicated to empowering youth to overcome adversity. Over the past 7 years Terri’s speeches and workshops have inspired students to:

-Pursue their goals despite overwhelming odds

-Practice healthy habits that promote a positive self-image

-Find their purpose and create an action plan for success

-Find purpose in their pain

Terri’s lifelong desire to help others was birthed from a place of hurt and pain. Terri’s mom was verbally and physically abusive throughout Terri’s childhood and the abuse took a negative toll on Terri’s self-esteem and self-image. Terri developed a deep seated self-hatred that affected every area of her life.

When Terri was 17 years old, her father died suddenly in the hotel room on their family vacation, Terri found herself depressed, hopeless and suicidal. Terri knows what it means to be a teen, facing overwhelming odds. Her personal story of triumph over tragedy inspires youth to overcome life’s obstacles and turn their pain into purpose. “Every loss can potentially teach you a lesson but it’s much more rewarding when your lesson can inspire another person to persevere,” says Terri. She attributes much of her success and personal development to the support of her family, mentors, dynamic pastors and teachers.

Terri holds a Master’s Degree in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution from Salisbury University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Kutztown University. She is the author of Break Up With Procrastination: 7 Steps to Help You Follow Through With Your Goals, a workbook-style, do-it-yourself guide for goal setting. In an effort to give back to her community, Terri founded Mocha Girls Pit Stop, a personal development blog for young women that empowers them to overcome adversity and boost their self-esteem. Mocha Girls Pit Stop is an online community where women celebrate their stories of triumph and encourage each other to be great!

When she’s not writing or speaking, Terri enjoys spending time with her younger siblings, traveling with her husband or reading a good book.
