Your 2016 Year in Review + FREE 2017 Goal Mapping Workbook Terri December 6, 2016 2 Comments What better time for a 2016 Year in Review? The end of the year is a great time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. December is one of my favorite months of the year. Every year around this time, I’m pretty much over the current year and ready to move on. I think we can agree that 2016 was a tough year for many of us. Between the racial tensions in the U.S., losing so many great Black talents, and Trump being elected as President, we’re eagerly looking forward to a fresh start, and a hopeful future. The symbolism of January 1st gets me pumped. The fresh start, the unlimited potential for the upcoming year, and the process of shedding unnecessary baggage, truly excites me! Over the years I’ve become a reflective person and I really appreciate introspection. Below are 12 questions that I used to reflect on 2016. Trust me… this isn’t a walk in the park! If you can, take some quiet time and reflect on the past year. Your successes, failures, and everything in between. I like to jot my answers down in a notebook, the notepad app on my phone, or I email it to myself. I encourage you to do the same. On December 31, 2017, I can guarantee you, you’ll appreciate looking back on your progress and growth. Thanks so much for sharing lady! Here’s my review: 1. If you had to describe 2016 in 3 words, what would they be? Evolution, Awareness, and Sorrow 2. What was a high point? Growing as a youth speaker and thought leader. This is the first year that I’ve seen glimpses of my vision (from 10 years ago) come to past. 3. What was a low point? Losing two grandparents, unforeseen financial setbacks, the election, and the systematic attack against black people. 4. What lessons did you learn in 2016? Anything is possible. No really, ANYTHING. 5. What goals did you achieve this year? -getting my business in order for 2017 -took two vacations! -created the TerriLomax.com website -completed my first online course -finally nailed down my 60 minute keynote 6. What goals didn’t get completed? Why? -I didn’t reach my savings goal b/c of unforeseen financial expenses 🙁 7. Who or what hindered you? How can you prevent this from happening again? I hindered myself because I didn’t have as much discipline as I would have liked. I think finding new ways to motivate myself when I’m low will help with my discipline. Also, finding a tough accountability partner who will hold me accountable to my aggressive goals. 8. Who or what supported you? How can you pay it forward or show appreciation? My husband was incredibly supportive this year! He encouraged me when I traveled for speaking engagements and sent me text messages affirming me and giving me confidence. 🙂 My job was very supportive with that has been going on with my schedule. My subscribers also supported me as I grew, developed, and healed from painful experiences. My grandmother, my mom, my dad, my mother in law, and my church family supported me, along with Coolspeak family. I can show my appreciation by writing a heartfelt thank you card and being there for those who’ve supported me. 9. What was your favorite compliment that you received (or gave) this year? I had some really flattering comments on my Halloween costume. 🙂 Also, my husband has given me so many great compliments. He said he admires me and my grind. Karen from UPENN left an inspiring comment on my Facebook, and my grandmother also gave me a beautiful comment via text message. 10. What did you think about more than anything else in 2016? I’ve thought about monetizing my blog. I really want to generate $X a month from my blog! This is a short term goal that will certainly grow in the future but I really want this! 11. If you could give your early-2016 self advice, what would it be? Cherish the ones you love and tell then how you feel while they’re here. Life is unexpected and it can be gone within a blink of an eye. 12. What is your number one goal for 2017? What 3 action-steps will help you achieve this goal? Monetize my business – finish my blogging course and my two workshops -create a launch plan for each course/workshop -create a value packed webinar that will be so informative and impactful that I’ll have an abundance of sales that I can barely keep track of. Bank account on fleek 💁🏽 -use advertisements to market my content Latasha 1. If you had to describe 2016 in 3 words, what would they be? *Scary, Revealing, Refreshed 2. Who or what supported you? How can you pay it forward or show appreciation? *My family. I went through a rough week and a half in August and my family really showed me they are in my corner during that time. You’re going to meet a great guy in the last quarter of the year and feel like bringing a man into the equation is too much for you right now but don’t worry, he’s a really nice guy and will show you how a man should treat his woman. Just pace yourself and roll with the punches and if something makes you uncomfortable don’t be afraid to tell him because to your surprise he will understand. Your energy will be restored and you’ll be healthier by the end of the year so hang in there! Oh yeah, be ready to buy some smaller clothes! 12. What is your number one goal for 2017?
